How to upgrade Weapons in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
Every weapon in the game has some specific unique ability that you can get permanently. Using a specific weapon frequently during the combats increases your proficiency with that weapon and eventually when that ability is maxed out you can use that anywhere in the game while equipping any other weapon. The good thing is that you can check about how to level up a specific ability of a weapon quickly. For this purpose open the Materia & Equipment and select the Weapon for which you want to check the proficiency bonus requirements.
For example, Buster Sword has the ability named Focused Thrust, and Gatling Gun has the ability of Focused Shot.
There is also an option named Weapon Upgrades which you can select by going to the main menu. With this option, you can select the weapon of a particular character that you want to upgrade. Now press the Triangle Button on the controller to go to the Weapon Skills. For each weapon level, you will get one Weapon Skill slot which keeps on increasing when you upgrade the levels.
There is also an option to do the weapon upgrades automatically. In this case, you will not be managing the upgrades and these are getting upgraded automatically when you unlock the specific weapon skills by equipping them automatically. In the Weapon Upgrades menu, you press the menu button again where you can select the Auto-Upgrade Settings which will let you choose one option from four. These options are as follows.
- Manual
- Balanced
- Prioritize Attack
- Prioritize Defense
Besides Manual, any other option selected will let your weapon upgrade automatically. When the balanced option is selected, it automatically equips the skills that boost both the defense and attack in a balanced way however for the Prioritize Attack and Defense it equips the skills that boost the attack or defense respectively.
