Samsung is gearing up Nintendo Switch 2: OLED Display, Samsung’s Chips, NAND Memory

One of the most anticipated features of the next-gen handheld console, the Nintendo Switch 2, is its OLED display panel. Fans have been frustrated with LCD displays in such consoles, but the good news is that Samsung has reportedly partnered with Nintendo to help manufacture the Switch 2 with improved technology.

According to Bloomberg, Nintendo is preparing to sell 20 million consoles in the fiscal year 2025–2026. Current supply is falling short of market demand and may be depleted before March 2026. To meet demand and hit the target of selling 20 million Switch 2 units, Nintendo is collaborating with Samsung on improved technology, including OLED display panels, NAND memory, and chips.

Samsung is already a key component supplier for the Nintendo Switch, and Bloomberg reports that Samsung is encouraging Nintendo to use OLED displays in the Switch 2.

Previously, chips for the original Nintendo Switch were manufactured by TSMC, but Nintendo is now shifting to Samsung to help produce custom-built Nvidia chips for its next-generation console.

Despite all the positive news about the Switch 2’s upgraded tech, it’s still unclear when the consoles will be in stock and available for purchase.
